This project was created as both an artistic and technical showcase.
My main goal was to capture the gritty, mysterious atmosphere of Bilgewater while adding my own personal touch to the environment.
It was also a great opportunity to explore the challenges and advantages of a top-down camera setting, which heavily influenced both the artistic direction and technical decisions.

I highly recommend checking out the gameplay video, as everything was designed with player experience and game demo in mind.
Keep in mind that all assets were built specifically for a top-down gameplay setting, so not everything is intended for close-up shots, the focus was always on player readability and immersion from above.

I fully created the main character, even though I don't want to become an character artist. It was a great experience that gave me a better understanding of the character art pipeline, its constraints, and how it's integrated into the engine.
